The Shed in Notting Hill is a
family run restaurant aimed to bring rustic West Sussex food to London. Owned
by two brothers Oliver and Richard Gladwin, the white restaurant has the
exterior aesthetic of, well, a shed. With mismatched furniture and a
beautifully quirky tractor bonnet bar The Shed is truly an escape from the
business of the city. It also fits in beautifully with the unique feel of
Notting Hill.
The menu changes daily and the
food is freshly sourced from the family’s farm in Nutbourne, West Sussex, as
well as wines from the Nutbourne vineyards. ‘Nose to tail’ cooking is essential
to the identity of The Shed as it ensures that no produce is wasted. The main
vision behind eating at The Shed is ‘English Tapas’: small plates, made to
share and designed to be tried. But that isn’t all the venue has to offer, for
any celebration you may have planned simply book a table and The Shed will
cater to your every need.
Compliments can be found in
abundance for the venue on social networking site Twitter, with people saying;
“Wonderful food this evening, beautifully British.”, “BIG thumbs up for The
Shed.”, “I loved the place, I loved the food and the friendly staff made it even
better.” And “If you’re looking for somewhere to go this week The Shed is a
great concept using local produce.”
The praise on the Internet from
satisfied customers proves the eateries popularity-and the sheer love for
the place. With its high caliber food and wine, The Shed fits perfectly in to
its Notting Hill setting: there’s definite appeal to
residents, and visitors alike.
